OSL Wins Prestigious UK Ministry of Defence Award for Innovation in Securing Critical Infrastructure

Operational Solutions Ltd (OSL) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of four innovative UK companies to receive a share of the £2 million Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) award.

This funding, allocated in partnership with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), endorses OSL’s leadership in developing cutting-edge remote sensing technologies designed to secure critical infrastructure, including high-risk sites within the defence, security, and nuclear sectors.

This award validates OSL’s technological direction and reflects the strong trust placed in the company by DASA, one of the UK’s most professionally managed and selective innovation funds.

As security challenges continue to evolve, OSL’s technology-agnostic and future-proof solutions are well-positioned to safeguard critical sites, continuously ensuring a safer and more secure environment.

The Remote Monitoring of Sensitive Sites competition is part of a broader effort to enhance the security of nuclear decommissioning sites across the UK. The aim is to implement autonomous systems that maintain security while reducing costs, particularly in lower-risk sites where defueling has been completed and traditional nuclear security measures are no longer required.

OSL’s innovative solutions will be tested live on NDA sites in 2025, with a demonstration to follow in early 2026.

Keeping our sites safe and secure is absolutely critical to delivering our mission. Our estate spans 17 nuclear sites across the UK, made up of around 950 hectares of designated land on which over 800 buildings are located.

The innovative solutions will explore how we can continue to keep our people and communities safe, and meet our regulatory obligations, through remotely augmenting our existing arrangements.
