Purpose of the role:

Provide analyst support to the military on the use of one of its training simulators, being responsible for the generation, conduct and maintenance of tactical exercises. The analyst will have an excellent understanding of British Army structure and tactics, have excellent communication and teamwork skills and be able to work well under pressure.

Key job requirements and responsibilities:

  • Support military personnel by configuring exercises, overseeing, assisting with and operating other elements of the simulation
  • Managing exercises for Courses, Sub-unit and Battlegroups and other simulated events including the following:
  • Manned entities
    • Blufor Computer Generated Forces entities including orders
    • Opfor Computer Generated Forces entities including orders
    • Carry out the loading of exercises for Courses, Subunit and Battlegroups to using the relevant specific workstations:
    • Operate Computer Generated Forces during an exercise from Course, Sub-unit and Battlegroup level to include:
  • To support the training of military users on a variety of simulated military equipment
  • Carry out testing of military simulation systems which includes Regression testing and PTR testing
  • Assist the military during visits
  • Assist with maintenance where required

Qualifications / skills and experience  

  • Have a strong working understanding of or a willingness to gain knowledge of the British Army.
  • Have a strong understanding of or a willingness to quickly gain knowledge of British equipment capabilities.
  • Have a strong understanding of or a willingness to quickly gain knowledge of British army structure.
  • Have a strong understanding of or a willingness to quickly gain knowledge of NATO doctrine and tactics.
  • Have a strong understanding of or a willingness to quickly gain knowledge of equipment, tactics and structure of armies of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Have basic computer skills within a Windows environment to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Have the ability to adapt quickly to new tasks at short notice.
  • Confidence to speak/teach small audiences.
  • Problem solving.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
